This is virtually like complaining that it’s unfair to call Spider-Man a human being because he can stick to walls.
Daredevil is a super hero. Therefore, he has certain abilities that ordinary people do not possess. It’s baked right into teh concept.
Err… he sees outlines. Contours. Effectively, he’s colorblind. (That bit about being able to feel the difference in colors is from the silver age and seems to have been dropped in the 70s). If a page is laminated, he can’t read it. He can’t see traffic lights, though he can hear the direction from which traffic is coming. (Maybe if the light that is lit also makes a faint humming sound, he can pinpoint whether it’s coming from the highest or lowest light, but he can’t actually tell red from green).
If anything, I’d venture to say that it can be more frustrating for him to walk that line between hiding his abilities in civvies and pretending his disadvantages don’t exist in costume. For one thing, his ability to read? Should not work with gloves on. Good luck with “Okay, Daredevil. How about giving our police sketch artist a detailed description of the suspect?” or “You have sixty seconds to disarm the bomb. First, cut the green wire. Make sure it’s the green one or it’ll explode now.”
Furthermore, even “typical” blind people aren’t necessarily totally blind. Many can still perceive light and dark (something we’ve never seen Matt do), A person can have tunnel vision and be considered legally blind. If their vision is worse than 20/200 with corrective eyewear, they are legally blind. (Source: http://vision.about.com/od/faqs/f/What-Does-It-Mean-To-Be-Legally-Blind.htm)
In other words, many ‘typically blind’ people have better eyesight than Matt Murdock.
